10A DIV 1
16th May: Woolston Technical 0, Nomads 4, @ Hansen Park
Up against a very good Nomads Team we found ourselves 1 nil down early. Despite a good effort from the team we were 3.0 nil down by half time. Nomads passed the ball well. Declan played well in goal. We managed to create some good chances ourselves.
The second half was a fantastic defensive effort with Riley our striker making his presence felt on many occasions coming back to break down the Nomads attacking play. We still managed to move forward and Andrew had a good chance when the ball came to him out side the box from a corner but his shot was not on target. Nomads managed one more goal but that was it as we closed them down and didn't allow them to have so much room to play the ball around. At the end Mathew put through a perfect ball diagonally from midfield, however Riley was just beaten to the ball by a defender.

9th May: Woolston Technical 1, Burnside 2, @ Burnside Park
Today we started strongly competing well in the midfield with Scott making his mark early with some great tackles. We managed some good flowing moves down the left and right hand side, the first saw a good pass from Mathew to Riley on the wing who crossed well to Jordan whose shot deflected of the Keeper and onto the post. Despite our best efforts and against the run of play Burnside scored when we failed to clear the goal area far enough. To their credit the lads picked up and kept the momentum going that they had had before the goal. within minutes the pressure paid off and after some good midfield play Matthew received the ball out wide on the right just inside their half and unleashed a Beckham like shot which sailed over their keeper and bounced up under the inside of the cross bar to equal the score. The team spirit lifted further from this point and another good chance soon came, Andrew passed down the left to riley who beat a couple of players before putting in a good shot which the goalie fumbled, Jordan followed in to score, but the ref disallowed it as the Keeper was deemed to have got his hands back on the ball before Jordan kicked it. Declan made a few good saves through the half, however Burnside rarely broke through Andrew and James’ good defense to cause any more trouble. Half Time 1-1
The second half was a continuation of the first, with both teams having a good share of the game. Burnside soon got the upper hand though, with another goal. We carried on fighting back, Riley and Matthew both caused trouble for Burnside down the wings and both having good chances to score. Riley having the best chance, after Scott had won the ball and passed to him, his shot hit the crossbar. At times we needed to defend desperately and Scott, Andrew, Liam and Jordan all competed well with a couple of saves as well from James to keep Burnside from scoring again. Jordan’s last minute tackle was brave and committed.
Unfortunately we were unable to get the equalizer we deserved before the final whistle. Today we really worked hard and showed our future potential. Keep up the good work!

2nd May: Woolston Technical 1, Halswell 4; at Hansen
Today was a game of 2 halves, so to speak. In the first half, despite some good attacking moves and great corner taking we failed to close players down in our own half quickly enough and Halswell, to their credit, made us pay for it with 3 well taken goals. Declan played well in goal making a few good saves too. We could also have had a few goals too, if not for a few good saves from the Halswell goalie. Mathew, riley, Jordan and Leon all working hard to try and break Halswell’s defense.
After a half time rev up from Jeremy, the team came out fired up and ready to get stuck in! Andrew made the first impact with a fantastic sliding tackle, which set the tone for everyone for the second half. The holes in the defense had disappeared and we were now able to constantly attack them wave after wave. Halswell defended really well unfortunately, absorbing the pressure and managed to take advantage of an awkward clash, which saw Declan and Andrew hurt on the floor, the lucky bounce of the ball falling to Halswell who then scored their 4th goal. It was against the run of play and shortly after from a good move down the right hand side from Declan, who then passed to Mathew in a good position. Mathew took his opportunity well rifling the ball passed the Halswell keeper and into the net! Liam and Scott’s lively efforts in the second half added much strength to the midfield and allowed Leon, Riley, Mathew, and Jordon to create more attacking opportunities. Jeremy was very pleased with the second half performance by everyone and the potential shown for further improvement.

Sun 26th April: Woolston Technical 2, Avon 4; at Avonhead
The team started very positively in the first half. Going in at half time 1-0 up, thanks to a superb free kick from Leon, a couple of great saves from Declan and good defending from Andrew and James. The second half was very eventful with Avonhead finding the net early and with some help from the ref, they edged ahead. We continued to attack and Mathew and Riley came close without reward. Avonhead again took advantage with a further 2 goals. To our credit we never gave up and Leon added to his first goal, with a fine individual effort, dribbling through the middle and placing a well taken shot passed the Avonhead keeper to pull the score back to 4-2 where it finished.
