12 GOLD (DIV 3)

26th April, Woolston Technical 4, Medbury 2

The game started with the 9 players on the pitch and no subs! Two players had trouble with the local geaography but turned up as the game started. The coach was releived to see he had reserves. A dream start! Within the first 5 minutes Goal. After some good build up play through the midfield Tim struck a shot right at the goal keeper. He dropped the ball to his left handside and our Golden Boot winner from last year was on the mark to score his first of the season. Nice finish Raffy!
After that the team settled in and moved the ball around nicely from defence to midfeild to the forwards.
A second goal came when Simon made an amazing run with ball at his feet from left back, all the way into the oppostion's box. After not scoring directly, he followed up the rebound and popped it away for two nil.
The team dominated the rest of the half with only half chances from the oppistion and Jordan saved well in goal and Julian and James dealt with all threats at the back.
James made many dazzling runs from right back down the wing and was unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions. Great running James.
A third goal was added when Freddie found himself with ball in the box and an instinctive turn and strike saw the ball fly into the bottom right hand corner. 3 - 0 to 12th Grade Gold.
The Half ended with a flurry of chances. Most notibly Oscar hitting the bar with a shot from distance.

The 2nd half started we found ourselves under attack as a move down the right handside wasn't stopped and the oppostion scored from a tight angle. 3 - 1. From that moment on there was a battle on. Our strikers found themselves in lots of space but unable to breack down the opposistion. Oscar was unfortunate to score on a couple of occasions from long shots. Jordan worked well down the right wing creating crossing opportunities but no one got on the end of cross.
We our scored 4th goal when one of Oscars speculative efforts flew in over the game keeper. A great strike and greatly deserved. 4 - 1. Tiredness set in over the last 10 minutes and this showed as we were left one on one at the back and the opposition striker again scored from a tight angle for the last kick of the game.

A great performance and a great start to the season. Player of the day Raffy Hamblet.

Congratulations to Cooper, Veto and  Sebastian on solid performances. Some great passing and ball skills. Well done.
