New WTFC Emblem

Woolston Technical FC takes on a new look in 2008 (after the merger between Christchurch Technical and Woolston in 2007); one that reflects the history of football in the area and its connection with the local community.

The new emblem brings together 5 key elements:

1) ‘FC’ in the name tells people this is a football club, in the modern football manner;

2) the acknowledgement of the club’s 1923 roots and the manner of type treatment - using old style typography where the 9 and 3 drop below the baseline of the 1 and 2;

3) the inclusion of the CTC logo (Christchurch Technical College) - the college provided skills education for the workforce of the area, Ensors is on CTC land (now CPIT trades campus) and the college spawned the club;

4) the gear visual represents the area’s technical/industrial heritage and was part of the old Woolston Workingman’s Club logo, it also serves to signify the roundball beautiful game;

5) the shield - a traditional football emblem to house all these historical elements.

Finally the colours of Woolston and Technical have been brought together in the ‘Brazil’ colour strip. So whilst it has a clean modern style the new club emblem has plenty of history behind it.
